Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo is back in Italy to self isolate after testing positive for deadly coronavirus.

The news was confirmed by the Portugal football association barely 24 hours to their UEFA Nations League clash against Sweden. And he has landed in Turin to observe the exercise as stated as explained by local authorities regarding his COVID-19 diagnosis. Football Italia reports that the 35-year-old who had been isolating in a hotel in his home country took a private jet back to Turin and landed this afternoon. He was then transported through an ambulance to his home so he could continue the quarantine period. Juve confirmed in a statement that: “Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Italy with a medical flight authorised by the competent health authorities at the request of the player and will continue his fiduciary isolation at his home. Juventus teammate Weston McKennie also contracted the deadly virus, sending the entire squad into self-isolation at the J-Hotel.

Italy has been hit with the second wave of the virus with over 7,332 new positive cases registered in the last 24 hours and 43 people died.

Liverpool came from one goal down to beat stubborn Sheffield United 2-1 and stretch their unbeaten run at Anfield to 61 games.
