Manchester City legend David Silva becomes the latest football star to contract deadly coronavirus in Spain.

The 34-year-old World Cup winner who spent ten years at the Etihad Stadium was confirmed to have tested positive for the virus by his new club, Real Sociedad. Silva joined the Spanish topflight side on a free transfer this summer after parting ways with the Premier League outfit, where he will forever be remembered. The Spaniard was unveiled to the media by his new club Monday, August 31 and he answered a few questions during the press briefing as reported by SunSport. Real Sociedad took to social media to confirm the news, saying: “Real Sociedad informs that Silva has tested positive for COVID-19 in the test carried out at Policlínica Gipuzkoa. “The player is asymptomatic and is self-isolating.” The Sun further reports that Silva is doubtful for the Txuri-urdinak’s opening La Liga encounter on September 12.

During his one decade reign at the Etihad Stadium, the midfielder won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five EFL Cups and three Community Shields.
