Arsenal on Saturday evening, August 1, defeated bitter rivals Chelsea 2-1 to win the 2020 English FA Cup with Gabonese striker Aubameyang scoring the two goals for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta and his wards knew before the game that a win will be a glorious one for them considering their failure to finish among the top four teams. The Gunners got the first chance to score in this encounter through Aubameyang, but he was caught offside by the referee in the 4th minute. Chelsea took the lead in the fifth minute through Christian Pulisic who benefited from an assist by Olivier Giroud in which Arsenal goalie Martinez had no choice. But the Gunners responded in the 28th minute via a penalty that was scored by Aubameyang after defender Cesar Azpilicueta brought him down.

The referee first consulted the VAR, before he gave the Gunners the penalty as the first half ended with Arsenal leading. Chelsea had the chance to restore parity in the 47th minute through Jorginho who was set up by Giroud, but he failed to score. Nicolas Pepe provided a wonderful pass in the 68th minute for Aubameyang to score Arsenal’s second goal of the game.

The Blues were reduced to 10 men in the 73rd minute after a dangerous challenge by Mateo Kovacic on Granit Xhaka in which the referee gave him his second yellow card.

Tanguy Ndombele has opened up on the criticism thrown at him by Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho earlier in the year, Daily Mail.

The French midfielder made a £65million record signing from Lyon under former boss Mauricio Pochettino in the summer of 2019. But the Ndombele failed to live up to the billing which led to the Portuguese gaffer criticising his performance against Burnley at Turf Moore. Tanguy Ndombele: Mourinho did not hurt me neither did it motivate me. Photo by Daniel Leal-Olivas. Both manager and player had their differences, as the midfielder wanted a move out of England to join Barcelona or Bayern Munich. Mourinho sends stunning message to Tottenham stars which they won’t like after their victory against Burnley. Mourinho singled out the 23-year-old in a press conference after the game saying after the Burnley game saying:

“In the first half we didn’t have a midfield. “But I’m not going to run away and I have to say he [Ndombele] has had enough time to come to a different level.

“I know the Premier League is difficult and some players take a long time to adapt to a different league. But a player with his potential has to give us more than he is giving us, especially when you see how Lucas (Moura), (Giovani) Lo Celso and those players are playing. I was expecting more in the first half from him.”
