Give Liverpool the EPL title – Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger says

Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger has called for the Premier League season to be cancelled amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

The 27-year- old doesn’t want the season to return because if they continue to play and there is a danger, it might not sit right on his conscience.

The German football star believes Liverpool should be crowned as the champions of England since they boast a stunning 25-point lead over Manchester City with just two games away from mathematically securing them their first league title since 1990.

If we continue to play and ignore people dying it wouldn

‘Honestly, as far as I’m concerned they can give Liverpool the title,’ Rudiger told ZDF.

‘At the end of the day they deserve it, they’ve had a great season and are leading the table with, oh I don’t know how many points.

‘The thing is they were going to win the thing anyway, so I think the title is theirs ethically. Of course, I hope that the season can be finished and it will be sporting for everyone.

If we continue to play and ignore people dying it wouldn

‘But, as I’ve said before if we continue to play and there is a danger, and we ignore that while people are dying somewhere in the world, I don’t know if that would sit right on my conscience.’

However, the Premier League are reportedly waiting for guidance from the UK government following their plan to return to action with games to be played behind close doors.

In the UK alone, there have been more than 165,000 confirmed cases, with 26,097 deaths at the time of writing.

Liverpool despite all odds came out tops in what was a totally dominating game against Leicester City.

The Reds showed why they are the defending champions with a superb display of attacking football even at the expense of losing six first team players.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Oxlade Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and top score for the Reds this season Mo Salh were all out prior to this game, due to injury reservations.

But Jurgern Klopp’s side still proved what they were made of with a scoreline of 3-0 against former champions Leicester City.

An own goal coming from Jonny Evans at the 21st minute opened the scoring for the Reds, while later on the first half Diogo Jota doubled their lead with a sublime finish that went past Kasper Schmeicel.

The Foxes did try to lunge at the Reds, but the defensive manuvers brought forth by youngster Curtis Jones blocked every tactic they used.

Jamie Vardy was totally frustrated throughout the game, as Liverpool cut him off from all forms of creative touches, leaving the striker zoned out throughout the game.

The second 45 saw a penalty appeal for Liverpool when Namaplays Mendy fouled Jota in the box, that wad not given while the injury crises at Anfield increases as Naby Keita was taken off on account of a sprain.

Roberto Firmino also made his mark by giving Liverpool the last and winning goal at the 80th minute, converting a James Milner freekick and heading home with a goal for him, after his lack of goals this season.

This game makes it Liverpool’s 64th victory at Anfield- an unprecendented record for Klopp’s men, and also sees them go to second place, behind Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool and Leicester both have midweek games in European Competitions, and will return to the Premier League as Leicester take on Fulham while the defending champions battle against Brighton.
