Eden Hazard broke the heart of many Chelsea fans after he signed for Real Madrid late in 2019. The silver lining was that the Belgian wanted to play in one of the top clubs where he can increase his chances of becoming the world’s best footballer. He played his last game for Chelsea at the Europa final against Arsenal where the blues won the league.

Hazard was no doubt the playmaker for Chelsea and he’s flair on the field can not be overestimated, his presence alone sends shock waves down the spine of many defenders in the world. Also, his contributions to the world cup can not be overemphasized, his presence allowed himself and the team to flourish at the world cup. The world cup was another added advantage for the Belgian winger, he proved himself worthy of any big team.

After the world cup, Real Madrid could not get their eyes off the Belgian winger. The exit of Cristiano Ronaldo away from Juventus made it compulsory that the Los Blancos sign the Chelsea star player. Ronaldo left Madrid when the ovation was the loudest after winning the Champions League for Madrid in 2019.

Real Madrid signed Eden Hazard for £88 million which is believed to rise to about £130 million due ads on. His contract with Real Madrid made him the second-highest earner in Los Blancos after the captain of the team Sergio Ramos. Hazard is reported to be earning about £188,000 after tax and he earns about £11 million per annum. Though there have been speculations that the Belgian winger accepts a pay cut to join Real Madrid because his fee, while he was in Chelsea, is higher than his new take home in Real Madrid. While in Chelsea Hazard earns £200,000, however, the Belgian winger earns a gross income at Chelsea which will be lower than the reported amount after tax is deducted.

Meanwhile, it is worthy to know that Hazard’s hurdle in Real Madrid has been marred with series of injuries, he has spent more time recovering from injury than he has played on the pitch for Real Madrid.

Taribo West has alleged that some individuals running Nigerian football have siphoned and embezzled huge sums of money and he will lead a protest against them.

And this is coming in the wake of the EndSARS protests after youths across the country stormed the streets demanding an end to police brutality and calling for good governance. The 46-year-old who is now a pastor was a member of the Super Eagles squad between 1994 and 2005 and made 42 appearances. According to him, everything that is happening as a result of #EndSARS protests should also be taken to the football house.

He told Punch:

“We are going to protest against those that have hijacked our football system. Everything happening in the Nigerian system must also affect the football house. “People with integrity must run the football house because money that has been siphoned, embezzled & mismanaged can’t be quantified.

“Work of God is in my spirit, but football is in my blood. I’ll lead a protest against the mismanagement of funds in Nigerian football.”
